Pete Grella

Pete Grella

Pete Grella moved to Hong Kong from New York City 7 years ago and hasn’t looked back! Mainly because he pinched a nerve and can’t move his neck very well… he does turn his body around on occasion, though, to gaze in the direction of NYC.

Pete has always enjoyed being creative and making people laugh, but let things like work get in the way of trying comedy. All of that changed in the spring of 2009… he took an improv comedy course at TakeOut Comedy Club, after which he was invited to join People’s Liberation Improv and has been performing with them ever since. Stand-up comedy was not far behind; he made his stand-up debut later that year and has been performing regularly at TakeOut. In 2012, he also co-founded a new long form improv group… 3 Dudes Improv.

He has opened for many visiting comics (including Tom Cotter, Paul Ogata, Ruben Paul and Butch Bradley) and has performed in Macau (at the MGM Macau), Singapore, Seoul and Shenzhen. He has also performed in improv festivals in Beijing, Manila and Seoul.

In addition to performing stand-up and improv, Pete also teaches improv and is the co-producer of the annual Hong Kong International Improv Festival.

When he’s not performing (or working his day job teaching English at a kindergarten), Pete has been known to live on an abandoned oil drilling platform in the North Sea raising sea monkeys.
